St. Maximilian Kolbe School boasts a strong academic program. Our guiding principle, that every action, every interaction, and every decision must benefit children, leads to certain practices that result in high academic achievement.
Highly qualified teachers are committed to each student’s academic success.
All children are active learners.
Our teachers understand that each child learns differently. They know that learning happens through listening, speaking, reading, writing, acting, singing, building, dancing, playing, experimenting, and exploring. Learning takes place quietly by oneself, as well as in busy groups.
We teach children. Our focus is on how the student learns rather than what the curriculum is. Every teacher plans lessons by asking “How will these students best learn this material?”
In planning and implementing lessons, teachers consider how each student learns and presents the material using a variety of strategies.
Additionally, teachers use data from Terra Nova testing, and diagnostic and benchmark assessments in Reading and Math, to identify areas of strength and areas in need of improvement when making decisions regarding curriculum. Each content area is assessed across the grades to ensure a rigorous and challenging course of study in each subject.
