How can I help my child prepare for Kindergarten?
Kindergarten can be a very exciting time for your child, but this
time may also cause some anxiety. Be sure to reassure your child
that you are always thinking of them even when you are not with
them. Play up all the fun they will have and how much you
(hopefully) enjoyed kindergarten.
How can I help my child become a better reader?
Read to your child everyday and have your child read to you. If
he makes a mistake, for now, simply tell him the correct word and
let him or her move on. To increase their comprehension skills,
discuss the book you are reading with questions such as I wonder
why a character acted a particular way in the story; or what
would you have done in the story? Play games with beginning
consonant letter sounds such as I'm thinking of a word that
begins with B and it growls.
Can parents volunteer in the classroom?
Parents are encouraged to volunteer to help at lunch and
recess, 11:15-12:15. Younger siblings are welcome to join us.
Be sure to see Mrs. Verna in the office for your security
clearance.
Our homeroom parents will also be in touch with you regarding
helping with various celebrations throughout the year.
How can I get in touch with my child's teacher?
You can call the school number to leave a message. The office
staff will relay your concerns to me. You can also send me an e-
mail. However, I check messages before school, during lunch or
after school. If you have an emergency, it's best to contact the
school office.
How can I enroll my child in the CARES Program?
All information regarding our after school program can be found on our school website.
