Room 100 Newsletter
Week of January 24, 2016
I hope all of you are surviving the BLIZZARD of 2016! Did the kids get outside to play? I can’t wait to hear all about it! I prefer to be inside where it’s warm!
This week we will begin a unit on hibernation! We will discuss what this word means and talk about animals that hibernate, especially bears!
I will be reading books that are both fiction and non fiction on this topic this week. Who can tell what books are real and what books are make believe? On Friday, the children can bring in their favorite teddy bear. We’ll make a den out of one of our tables and put them in there to hibernate! Of course, we’ll cuddle with them too!
Registration is now open! If you know your child is returning to Saint Max for the upcoming school year, please register ASAP to secure your spot! As I mentioned earlier, there has been great interest in our program and tours continue for new students! The school needs to know enrollment numbers soon so they can plan accordingly! Very exciting time for our youngest learners!!!!!!
Religion
We will discuss how God made each of us different just like snowflakes!
No two are alike! We often talk about how God made us exactly how he wanted us so it doesn’t matter if some of us are tall and some of us are small. Some have dark hair, some light. Some of us like to do puzzles and others like to play kitchen or cars or play dough!

Activities
The Big Super Heroes will color and cut a bear shape. They will glue it inside a brown paper bag to make a cave/den for it to hibernate. We will add small sticks,
stones, and leaves.
They will also use gummy bears to sort colors. They will then put their gummy bears on a graph by color and we will look to see who has the most o each color and who has the least. When we are done we will eat this tasty treat!
Journal- draw a simple bear using circles and copy or trace the word bear.
The Little Super Heroes will paint a paper plate brown and then use glue to add ears, wiggle eyes and a black nose. They will draw a mouth with crayons or markers. They will get to eat some Teddy Graham crackers as they work on this project! Yum!
