Room 100 Newsletter
October 4, 2015
Our focus this week will be on the lifecycle of a pumpkin in preparation of our upcoming class trip. The stages of the pumpkin lifecycle are: seed, sprout, vine, flower, green pumpkin, orange pumpkin.
We used food color to dye uncooked rice orange last week and this week there will be hidden Fall and Halloween treasures in it for the children to find. This is a great sensory activity and the children are so excited about playing in it!
The class has received enough beads for positive behavior and has earned a Halloween movie as their reward! We will watch a brief movie on Friday morning. I will read the book, “Room On A Broom” by Julia Donaldson and then we will see the movie.
We had to postpone our nature walk last Friday due to the rainy weather. We will go outside this Thursday to look for signs of Fall. We will pick up pinecones, acorns, etc. and bring them home in a paper bag!
This week the Student Council is collecting cat and dog food for Lords Pantry.
Please send in dry or wet food for our animal friends!
Thank you to Mrs. Griffith, Zayda’s mom, and Mrs. Reagoso, Clare’s mom, for volunteering to assist Mrs. Keenan during our gym class!
If there is anyone else who would like to help out please let me know!!!!!
The more the merrier!
Happy Birthday, Vincenzo! October 7
Religion
We will listen to the song, “This Little Light of Mine”. We will talk about the light of Jesus that is in each one of us. The children will color a Jack O Lantern and discuss how when the candle is lit inside, his face lights us.
