Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at St. Maximilian Kolbe School! My name is Miss Barbella and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher this upcoming school year. I have many activities and adventures planned for your child’s kindergarten year ahead.
Our kindergarten Sneak-a-Peak will be held in our classroom for both students and parents on Monday, August 28th. Students will have the opportunity to explore the classroom and learn some of the daily routines. It is not necessary for the students to wear their uniform to orientation. Our first day of school is Monday, September 11th. Students should arrive between 7:50am – 8:00am. Dismissal for AM kindergarten is 11:15am and full day dismissal is 3:00pm.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could bring the following items with you to orientation/first day of school:
Your child will also need a backpack for each day along with a snack and their daily lunch. We would greatly appreciate your help at lunch time (11:15am-12:30pm). Younger siblings are welcome. Please let me know during orientation if you can provide assistance during our lunch period. You must have the appropriate clearances (Mrs. Truitt will be discussing that at sneak a peak). Please see Mrs. Truitt if you have any questions.

The kindergarteners will be wearing the buck-style shoes along with the school uniform for the first time. Please help your child break their shoes in by wearing them a few times before school starts.
A nametag with your child’s transportation information will be provided during orientation. Please make sure your child is wearing this tag or that it is on their backpack every day. Also, please send a dated note whenever your child is going home early or by car. The office can no longer accept phone calls changing afternoon transportation unless it is an emergency.
Lastly, if you have any questions or concerns over the course of the school year, please feel free to contact me. The start of the school year is a lot to take in especially for our kindergartners and we want everyone to feel welcomed and part of the ‘crew’!
